Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) affects women of all ages regardless of reproductive status and is a result of too much insulin in the blood (hyperinsulinemia) and insulin resistance. PCOS can cause cysts on the ovaries, but only about 20% of women with the condition will develop them. The cysts themselves are not usually problematic other than being painful for some.
This condition can be genetic, with the leading cause being an excess of both insulin and the ‘male hormone,’ testosterone. Both of these disrupt regular ovulation and hormone balance. If you have signs and symptoms of PCOS, they’ll usually become apparent during your late teens or early 20s.
Some women don’t realize they have the condition. However, PCOS can cause:[5]

Premenopause
During premenopause, estrogen levels (in particular, a type of estrogen called estradiol) cycle normally. During your 20s, other hormones like progesterone, thyroid and testosterone are typically in an optimal range (unless you have PCOS). However, during your 40s, usually, the only stable hormone is estradiol, with progesterone, thyroid and testosterone often in decline. Optimizing these declining hormones can relieve uncomfortable symptoms, help you look and feel younger, increase energy, elevate your mood and boost your sex drive.
Menopause
During the perimenopausal and menopausal stages, estrogen production and periods that were once regular become erratic. Hormone Blood Test
With FemExcelle’s advanced testing, our medical providers can get to the root cause of your hormone imbalance and customize a treatment plan to get your body back on track. As our patient, you’ll take your hormone blood test at one of our private partner labs located near you.
What We Test For
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), Progesterone, Free Testosterone, Insulin, Free T3, DHEA-S, Vitamin D3, Estradiol and lipid profile (cholesterol and triglycerides).
Your medical provider will determine which of these hormones will need testing during your initial consultation.
Initial Online Consultation
During your initial consultation, you will discuss your main symptoms with your FemExcelle medical provider and how they impact your life. Your FemExcelle medical provider will review your symptoms and medical history and create your personalized hormone replacement program.
Follow Up Online Consultation
Your follow-up consultation will take place approximately 30 days after your initial consultation. At this time, your FemExcelle medical provider will reassess your symptoms, review your test results and may adjust your dosage, if needed.
Ongoing Care
As part of your treatment package, you have unlimited medical support via phone, video and email with your personal licensed provider. They review your treatment and symptoms with you every 2 months, ensuring you receive the correct medication dosage to optimize your hormones and the best quality care.
